What is Search Engine Optimization?

SEO stands for search engine optimization.  It is the process of what it takes to get your website ranked well for the words that your clients would type into Google, Yahoo or Bing search engines to find your products and services.

The search engines’ job is to get the best, most relevant sites at the top of their search engines.  When they do this successfully, we are happy with the results and use their search engines more often.  The more traffic they get to their search engines, the more money they can make with pay per click ads.

1)  They don’t know the keyword phrases their site is being optimized for, or the meta keywords, title, descriptions, headers and content aren’t populated with exact keywords consistently.  Often people are optimizing for one or two word keywords that have millions of competitive sites, end up paying too much for SEO or don’t get the traffic they want.

2)  Not enough focus on the client’s needs, benefits and results.  What does your client need or want?  What problem are you solving for your clients?  Once you make it clear what’s in it for the client, then they’ll be interested in your credentials, experience and how the process works, not the other way around.

3)  Contact information not on their home page or the contact page has a huge form for people to fill out in order to contact the business.  Make it as easy as possible for people to contact you or to make a purchase.
